By now I'm sure you have read hundreds of articles or heard others talking about how scouting while shed hunting is a great idea. I fell for it and listened to their advice and found very few shed antlers. Disappointed in my results I came up with a new game plan that increased my findings significantly.

Whether your a food-plotter or not there are a couple things you need to know about food plot companies and how they "trick" you into buying their clover seed products. Don't fall for their ploy and learn what to look for here.

A normal coyote hunt takes a turn for the worst and Kyle was lucky to walk away from this hunt.

With season over we anxiously await the shedding of antlers. With the frigid temperatures and a large accumulation of snow on the ground it shouldn't be long until these bucks shed their antlers. We have high hopes of finding these sheds as our Real World Wildlife Seed food plots are really holding the deer right now.

The 2013 deer hunting season was a roller coaster of emotions. Team Radical was able to film the two largest bucks ever taken with a bow in the teams history scoring at 196 4/8" and 197". One would think that we had a spectacular year, but that's far from the truth. Read More Here:

When does your season start/end for hunting whitetails? Justin gives us a complete breakdown of everything they do to ensure success on their hunting property. Steve was able to shoot the buck "Hog Wild", a 197" archery buck during the late season. This is truly an awesome article. Enjoy!

With the frigid temperatures and only days left of our Illinois archery season team member Steve Niemerg and Justin Roepke have been through an incredible turn of events with an end result we would all love; a giant whitetail buck. Check out the full story here!

The deer are really starting to herd up and hitting our food plots. Thanks to Real World Wildlife Seed our soybean plots are still holding in the pods. Standing food plots are essential to us for late season hunting all the way through shed season.

November 29th team member Steve Niemerg was finally able to wrap his archery tag around the buck they call Big Brow 8. Encounter after encounter team member Justin Roepke just couldn't quite seal the deal on this mature buck. Steve just so happened to be at the right place at the right time. Shooting this buck was a priority of theirs as Big Brow 8 was the bully buck that ran all the other shooter bucks off.

The 3 year quest for the 5 1/2yr old buck known as "Kick It In" has came to a close. To top it off the buck was shot by Jennifer Weaver of Illinois while her boyfriend and Team-Radical member Kyle Heuerman filmed the entire hunt. The hunt was something all of us hunters dream of. Two mature bucks fighting for over five minutes at forty yards. This was a hunt of a lifetime and one of the largest Whitetails ever shot by a woman on film.

Have you ever seen a great young buck that you wanted to see grow to full maturity and then find out he was shot? Well this week a member of Team Radical had high hopes for this great 3 year old, but another hunter got to him first. On a lighter note he has another new buck on the cameras that is hitting the scrape lines.

This past weekend took a scary turn and in a hurry. Team member Justin Roepke gave us all a wake up call.

The weather here in Illinois has been a little odd, which is expected for this time of year. We went from freezing temperatures to seventy degrees yesterday. The warmer weather caused the Turkeys to get a little fired up and the cold weather gave the Whitetails a little kick start to some rutting activity.

24
Oct

Did someone flip the light switch on? The pictures are rolling in like clock work as this cold weather has them on their feet. The past couple weeks our trail cameras have been full of hit list bucks as well as some new superstars! Check out this weeks trail camera Thursday as it may be one of our best yet!

Sometimes letting a nice buck walk isn't easy, but we try our best to let them reach full maturity. Here are a couple younger bucks with tons of potential. Can't wait to see these guys in a year or two.

It seems as if we see more and more trespassing now days. Today we wanted to make a couple trespassers famous. The nerve it takes to intrude on someone else's property without permission is unbelievable. You work all year to prepare for hunting season just to find some tom dick and harry's trespassing on the trail cameras. Do you have troubles with people trespassing? Do you think we should have stricter penalties for trespassing?

This is truly an awesome story and a well deserved first deer. But how many of you can say you were able to shoot a buck like this as your first deer EVER with a bow. Check out the story and pictures. Congratulations Jacob and Ashley Pruiett.

Not every buck sports a monster rack, and here's a prime example of a mature buck with a management rack. We'll be chasing him soon!

It's not always about the rack size. For us, maturity is key in practicing our quality deer management. Here is a prime example of what we are talking about.

The buck "Tiny" has shed his velvet and showed us his true identity. After looking through pictures from last year, we found out he was on our cameras last year as well. The problem is this buck is a 4 1/2 yr. old buck who could really use another year. What's your thoughts, shoot or pass for one more year?

This year I wanted to take the challenge and see first hand on which soybean plant won between the Real World Wildlife Seed Soybeans and the Eagle Seed Soybeans. I planted them side by side to see what the visual difference between the two would be. Surprised would be an understatement on my most recent observation. Here's the results.

Just last week, one TRO member that goes by the alias Katniss Everdeen had a camera attached at the hip to take pictures of lush food plots and to check trail cameras. Katniss was approaching a trail camera located over a strategically constructed waterhole touching the designated sanctuary. As movement was caught out of the corner of his eye he instinctively began crouching down to blend in with the surroundings. Two adult does fed by at 45 yards indulging on the tender foliage at eye level. Following the does was this unbelievable buck! It would have been next to impossible to have a credible explanation about this encounter if the camera was not present. This is exactly why TRO members are extremely dedicated to the camera and don’t go to the woods without a one. I don’t understand what “The proofs in the Puddin” is all about; however I can comprehend, “The proofs in the footage!” A Pictures Worth a Thousand Words!!!

With the creeks and rivers drying up here in Illinois the Whitetails have been dropping like flies due to (EHD). Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease. We're not scientists or biologists, but we're sure this was the cause of death. Laying next to the creeks and rivers was a sure sign of the disease. The bottom line is one of the hit list bucks we were after has now been crossed off the list. One thing is for sure; no matter how hard you work or prepare for season you will NEVER beat mother nature.

We have been watching a buck we call "Slider" since the beginning of summer. We still think he needs at least another year before we'll put a tag on him, but this is an interesting timeline showing how the buck grew his rack throughout the summer.

04
Sep

The Radical members have been in a heated debate on whether or not this is the same buck from last year. There are similar characteristics, but we want your opinion. How old is the buck or bucks, is the buck or bucks shooters in your book, and is it the same buck?

Trail Camera Thursday! Today we have a couple more shooter bucks that we will be chasing this fall. The bucks are at their full potential now showing us what we have to look forward to this hunting season.

Here is an update of the buck we call "Tiny". We are now getting pictures of him on a regular basis and we were fortunate enough to actually lay down some video of this non-typical Whitetail. Let us know what you think of this buck. We're trying to figure out how old the buck is.

08
Aug

We want your opinion on how old you think this buck is and if you would put your tag on this buck??

01
Aug

Without a doubt this is going to be the biggest buck we have ever followed. The bucks name is "TINY", and we're hoping to lay down some film of this giant in velvet. We finally have it figured out where he is hiding and now we hope he shows himself in daylight hours. What do you think this buck will end up scoring after he's done growing??

Jul

With years of history on this buck it's safe to say the buck called "Big Frank" is a seasoned mature buck. Field Staff member Brandon Phipps has been following this buck for 6 years now and hopes to put a tag on this Kentucky brute come hunting season. He believes the buck is now 9 years old. 9 YEARS OLD! Here's a few pictures including trail camera pictures from this year.

Hunting coyotes in the summer months can be truly rewarding for your deer herd. As the mother coyotes have their pups, one thing is for sure their all hungry. The deadly combo recently has been using a fawn decoy using a fawn distress call or simply a pup distress call. Here field staff member Chance Karhliker (coyotes worst nightmare) talks about how he continues his success coyote hunting. Remember this is the perfect time of year to wipe out those Ol' Wiley coyotes.

Here is a status update on the buck we call "9mil". We let this buck walk multiple times throughout the season guessing he is a 4yr. old buck. We're waiting for him to drop his antlers in the Real World food plots. The buck is very visible right now and visits the food plot regularly. Our fingers are crossed, hoping to find his sheds!
